About Hatchett Springs
Hatchett Springs Baptist Church is located in Goodwater, AL and is one of the oldest churches in the community. It has undergone many changes during the assignment to spread the Gospel. However, it is a staple in the community and a histortic landmark. Many residents of the Goodwater, AL community have beautiful memories of the Hatchett Springs Baptist Church, and as well as the spirit filled sermons and songs that have ricocheted from wall to wall and out into the atmosphere.
Hatchett Springs Baptist Church was founded in 1907. It was the first establishment & began over 100 years ago. In 1980, Hatchett Springs suffered the loss of their church building by fire. After a long 4 years of believing God by Faith a new church was initiated in 1984 under the leadership of the late Pastor Larry M. Truss.
Hatchett Springs Baptist Church was renovated in 2008 the improvements and additions included a basement, Fellowship Hall, Pastor’s Study, Baptism pool, an enlarged choir stand, and an additional restroom.
In 2014, the late Pastor Larry M. Truss retired after 30 years of dedicated service. The torch was passed on to Bishop Demetrius D. Griffin who was in stalled as pastor on February 8, 2015. Under Bishop Griffin’s leadership, the following ministries have been established: Youth Sunday School, Men’s Ministry, Women’s Ministry and the Young Adult Ministry. Bishop Griffin has also added to the music ministry by establishing an Inspirational Choir, Praise Team and a Male Chorus. 2019 was a new beginning for Hatchett Springs, as the church changed it’s name to Hatchett Springs Worship Center and recommitted to it’s purpose of Equipping the People of God, With the Word of God, for the Work of God.
As God continues to electrify the spirit of His servant, Bishop Demetrius D. Griffin, an urgency has been naturally ordained over his life to bring the bread of life to the flock of sheep that has been assigned for him to lead. Bishop Demetrius D. Griffin has initiated the journey towards the beginning of the new era at Hatchett Springs Worship Center. And because of this, the orchestration of the history at Hatchett Springs Worship Center continues.
